Position Re-advertised – ENT Specialist

Reference number: 2026-01

Purpose of the role To strengthen the ENT unit, CCBRT is seeking a dynamic ENT Specialist interested in providing both medical and surgical care to patients in the ENT unit.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide quality medical and surgical care to patients in the ENT unit of the General Surgery Department
  • Work across Outpatient Department (OPD), Inpatient Department (IPD), and Operating Theatre Department (OTD)
  • Attend OPD clinics for screening ENT clients (as necessary)
  • Review patients referred by junior doctors and provide specialized opinions
  • Conduct ENT surgeries
  • Participate in on-call duties when required
  • Join ward rounds, examine patients, and help decide on surgical cases
  • Supervise junior doctors in OPD and wards
  • Attend and receive morning briefing reports (daily or as scheduled)
  • Offer expert specialized opinions to patients in the department and across other departments when consulted
  • Contribute to marketing CCBRT’s ENT services
  • Participate in clinical audits, clinical research, and provide medico-legal advice when needed
  • Help develop disease guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures for ENT services
  • Ensure quality of medical data
  • Support the establishment of a learning and research culture at CCBRT

Required qualifications and experience

  • Master’s Degree in Medicine with specialization in ENT from a recognized institution
  • Registered by the Medical Council of Tanganyika as MMED in Otorhinolaryngology
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a surgeon
  • Competent to perform all medical and invasive procedures relevant to ENT practice
  • Strong planning skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Effective counseling skills
  • Excellent communication skills (proficient in English; Swahili is an added advantage)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Computer literate
