Duties and responsibilities

The Livestock Attendants will be responsible for the following:

  • Cleaning pens, bomas, sheds, and equipment.
  • Carrying out dipping, dehorning, disbudding, debeaking, and other related operations.
  • Carrying out milking and egg collection.
  • Taking care of experimental animals.
  • Keeping registers of Institute properties, including livestock of all kinds.
  • Maintaining records of incoming and outgoing visitors, items, and assets.
  • Conducting regular day and night patrols around the Institute’s boundaries.
  • Checking and ensuring that all doors, windows, and other entry and exit points are properly closed after office hours.
  • Switching off lights when they are not in use.
  • Ensuring that all Institute properties taken outside the office are registered and authorized by the appropriate authority.
  • Reporting any problems that may occur.
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following:

  • A Form IV certificate.
  • Government and National Service Training and/or Militia Training Phase II and/or any other form of military training.

A Certificate in General Animal or Crop Husbandry from an FDC, VETA, or any other recognized institution will be an added advantage.

Remuneration

Successful candidates will receive remuneration according to POSS 2.
