Position objective

The position holder will be responsible for driving the creation of trade finance solutions to clients including Government, Corporate, Institutions, and other business segments in the areas of trade-structured solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Enhance and promote trade finance business volumes and revenues for the assigned portfolio.

  • Achieve targeted goals (trade finance funded & non-funded) as per budgeted growth for volume and revenues.

  • Enhance utilization against limits of every client relationship.

  • Coordinate with business lines and relationship managers on the development of trade finance business and generate new business from the portfolio.

  • Utilize trade finance products and structured solutions as tools for enhancing overall yield from each client relationship under management.

  • Enhance client awareness and experience by conducting regular client calls from a trade finance perspective.

  • Conduct joint calls with relationship managers to ensure joint sales goals are met, new revenue opportunities are identified, and client needs are assessed earlier than the competition.

  • Obtain customer and market feedback on products and competition.

  • Enhance client awareness and experience by arranging trade finance seminars and training.

  • Act as a solution provider, working closely with other related departments for effective coordination and communication, ensuring smooth business activities for clients and improving turnaround time of trade finance transactions.

  • Introduce new trade finance products and solutions to clients.

  • Cross-sell other products and refer new business opportunities to other business lines.

  • Provide feedback to management for future action and improvements in trade finance service and product requirements in relation to market needs.

  • Recruit and manage a portfolio of financial institutions that facilitate trade transactions.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Education: Holder of a Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Business Administration, Finance, Accountancy, Banking, Economics, Entrepreneurship, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

  • Experience: At least sixteen (16) years of working experience in the banking industry or a financial institution.

  • Good knowledge of trade finance and liaison operations with Government.

  • High level of integrity.

  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.

  • Personable and able to relate to people at all levels.

Position overview

The Chief Manager – Public Sector and Institutions is responsible for driving business growth within the Public Sector (Central Government, Local Government Authorities, and Government Institutions) and Institutional Banking segments (including Non-Banking Financial Institutions, Higher Learning Institutions, NGOs, Diplomatic Missions, and Healthcare Institutions).

The role focuses on:

  • Building and managing strategic relationships

The position proactively develops and manages a high-value client portfolio comprising government entities, institutional clients, development partners, and intermediaries, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, increased deposits, and optimal wallet share.

Key responsibilities

Business development & portfolio growth

  • Drive acquisition of new Public Sector and Institutional clients through targeted marketing of the Bank’s full product suite.

  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective clients; track, analyze, and convert opportunities into business.

  • Execute structured call programs for both existing and prospective clients to identify opportunities and grow the liabilities and asset portfolio.

  • Identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities across all banking products and services.

Relationship management & service delivery

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders across government and institutional sectors.
