Job Summary
FEMA Mining and Drilling Limited is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Production Superintendent to lead and optimize production activities at our mining operations in Katoro, Geita. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of ore while meeting or exceeding monthly and annual production targets.
The Production Superintendent will play a key leadership role in supervising production teams, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement in productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise all production activities to achieve set production targets in terms of tonnage, grade, and recovery.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and regulations (including OSHA, NEMC, and company HSE policies).
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Shift Supervisors, Foremen, and production crews to maintain high performance and accountability.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Geology, Survey, and Processing departments to ensure smooth and integrated operations.
- Optimize equipment utilization and minimize downtime through effective planning and resource allocation.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production reports to management.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
- Enforce strict adherence to drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling procedures.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Manage production budgets and control costs within approved limits.
- Ensure proper training and development of subordinates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in open-pit mining operations, with at least 3–5 years in a Superintendent or senior supervisory role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large production teams and delivering consistent production targets.
- Strong knowledge of modern mining methods, equipment, and production optimization techniques.
- Experience working in gold mining operations will be an added advantage.
- Valid Tanzanian Class D or E Driver’s License is preferred.

- Good understanding of mining safety standards and risk management.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
- Knowledge of mining software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, or Deswik) will be an advantage.
- Fluency in both English and Swahili (spoken and written).
